Player Version#: 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4
I have been happily flinging media to my RasPlex since about 4 years.
Recently (can’t say exactly when, but in the last few months) I have noticed that my RasPlex doesn’t show up on the players list, on any version of the Plex App:
The same is true for any other players which I have in my network.
However they always show up on the Plex Android App, and on PlexAmp. This is quite annoying, as I can’t use my computers to fling media to any player.
I have looked for solutions in this forum and on the web, and tried a lot of different stuff without success. Can anyone tell me what might be going on?
Rasplex has been officially deprecated already several years ago. Since then there were no updates.
So it is almost inevitable that stuff starts to break.
Not all client types can use Plex Companion directly. Some need a running Plex server in their local network to act as a “Companion Relay”.
Try it. Setup up a server and keep it running. It doesn’t have to have any media content on it.
It just needs to be present in the local network.
Hey OttoKerner, that was exactly the issue: I forgot to mention that I basically moved my plex server away from my home network, and these changes happened since then… My bad!
