Can't see any players on desktop/web app

Server Version#: 1.23.5.4862
Player Version#: 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4

I have been happily flinging media to my RasPlex since about 4 years.
Recently (can’t say exactly when, but in the last few months) I have noticed that my RasPlex doesn’t show up on the players list, on any version of the Plex App:

  • Desktop Client: Mac, Windows
  • Web App (plex.tv): Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Chromium (Mac, Windows, Linux)

The same is true for any other players which I have in my network.

However they always show up on the Plex Android App, and on PlexAmp. This is quite annoying, as I can’t use my computers to fling media to any player.

I have looked for solutions in this forum and on the web, and tried a lot of different stuff without success. Can anyone tell me what might be going on?

Thanks!

Rasplex has been officially deprecated already several years ago. Since then there were no updates.
So it is almost inevitable that stuff starts to break.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I understand that, but the same is true for any other players on my network, such as:

  • Other clients (laptops, mobiles), enabled as players
  • Kodi + Plex for Kodi

Are they all signed in to the same plex.tv account?
Is there a Plex server running in the local network where all these clients are?

Plex for Kodi as well hasn’t seen an update in quite some time.

They are all signed in to the same account, but the server is not on the LAN.

Not all client types can use Plex Companion directly. Some need a running Plex server in their local network to act as a “Companion Relay”.
Try it. Setup up a server and keep it running. It doesn’t have to have any media content on it.
It just needs to be present in the local network.

Thanks, I will try that and report back.

Hey OttoKerner, that was exactly the issue: I forgot to mention that I basically moved my plex server away from my home network, and these changes happened since then… My bad!

Anyway thank you so much for the quick reply
