How does Plex track confirmed bugs?

Just curious how Plex track and solved confirmed bugs.

It’s been a year since bug was confirmed on incorrect track length when sync from FLAC

Seems nothing has been done … no fix … no update why it is not fix

I consider the answer to that is “very internally and not necessarily with the same priorities as you would like them to”.

Lol

Funny thing … sync function is pay feature of Plex … you would think they will try to fix things that ppl pay for first

What version of PMS are you running? 1.3.3 is, in Plex terms, extremely old. Have you considered it might be a client and not server bug?
I’m also a Plex Pass holder (long before I became part of the staff) and flac is working fine for me.

Lol … ofcourse I update my plex server … currently 3.37.2 on Windows 10 … iOS client is 4.25

That 1.3.3 is version when I first reported the bug about a year ago (there were ppl who reported before me). At the time I also tried Android client that gave same behavior. AND the bug was reproduced by PLEX ppl who say they will file the bug report (see link above).

The problem of sync track length seems to be limited to FLAC (I tried Sync WAV and it was good).

See attached pictures (taken today) … one shows track length of FLAC files on server … another shows track length of sync (sync plays fine by the way … you just cannot use slider to skip to part of track beyond indicated wrong length

3.37.2 must be the web app version number because the Plex Pass server version is only at 1.12.0.4829. It is not even approaching 2.0 and will probably not be for some time.

I see … my bad … but I do update server regularly … just did one last night

server version is 1.12.0.4829

Since 1.12.0 is beta, would you mind backing down to the fully released 1.11.3 and retesting?

If it fails please capture the logs (Settings - Server - Help - Download logs) and attach the ZIP file

I will do it tonight

PS. I did post logs (in the link of first message of this discussion) for 1.3.3 when I first reported it … let’s see if same thing will come up

OK here are logs

Setup:
Plex Server 1.11.3.4803 running on Windows 10 Home (Version 1709 Build 16299.248) on i7-6700 with 32GB RAM
Plex App 4.25 Build 12851 running on iOS11.2.2 (iPhone 6)

Problem Description:
sync FLAC file to iPad gives a copy of file that indicates wrong track length (see pictures posted earlier of FLAC files on server and screen shot of sync copy of files … note the difference in track length). The sync copy plays fine pass indicated wrong track end (its just annoying AND cannot jump to part of track beyond indicated wrong track end)

Log Files:
To capture the problem. Removed all sync items from iPhone. Then quit Plex Server. Then deleted all log files. Then started Plex Server. Then sync FLAC track to iPhone. Then quit Plex Server. Then copy log files and post here.

What i see is where Plex has record of jobs which were queued but the media itself could not be found at time of actual sync.
Is this what you’re experiencing ( Job ‘converts’ and then is unable to download ) or is something else happening?

Actually sync is completed … iphones prompts that sync started … then later prompts that sync is finished … but track lenth are incorrect

I have iPhone and iPad devices here. I don’t see your issue.

What model devices please and what app version on the device?

I mention iPhone version when posted log … Plex App 4.25 Build 12851 running on iOS11.2.2 (iPhone 6)

Note that sync WAV is no problem for me. It only FLAC that gives this weird length. (I don’t have other formats … as lossless is the way I chose). I will try this again and post logs again

See this thread … it’s not only me imagining things lol

OK … this time I only sync one FLAC file to make it simpler … this time to iPAD mini

here are logs

Setup:
Plex Server 1.11.3.4803 running on Windows 10 Home (Version 1709 Build 16299.248) on i7-6700 with 32GB RAM
Plex App 4.25 Build 12851 running on iOS 11.1.2 (iPAD mini4)

Problem Description:
sync FLAC file to iPad gives a copy of file that indicates wrong track length (will post picture in a sec). The sync copy plays fine pass indicated wrong track end (its just annoying AND cannot jump to part of track beyond indicated wrong track end)

Log Files:
To capture the problem. Removed all sync items from iPAD. Then quit Plex Server. Then deleted all log files. Then started Plex Server. Then sync FLAC track to iPAD. Then quit Plex Server. Then copy log files and post here.

here are screenshots from iPad mini of FLAC file on server and sync copy on iPad mini

this is only happening to FLAC syncs

FLAC on server

sync completed

sync copy has wrong track length

I repeated your procedure and Cannot Replicate.
There was an error a year ago and it’s long since been corrected.
Check the tags in your media as I have no embedded tags

tracks were rips from my CD using EAC

not sure how to correctly check all embeded tags but here are some screenshots

your Elton Jones on server are FLAC and your server on Windows? maybe EAC not generating FLAC properly?

MP3tag

MediaInfo

plaing file cannot skip beyond wrong length

but song is complete

  1. No more screenshots please unless requested
  2. You rip as EAC3 (a multi-channel codec) but you expect FLAC output?
  3. My machine is Linux
  4. I rip in FLAC directly. There are no intermediate conversions.
  5. The iOS app downloads directly in FLAC and stores as such
