Once Channels DVR has saved the programmes, Plex can still play them if you want Plex to continue to manage your library.
Another alternative for you to try is NextPVR (free) but that does require a subscription to SchedulesDirect (for the EPG). It works well and is cheaper than Channels. Again, once the show has been saved, Plex can still be used to manage the library and playback etc etc.
Plex’s EPG will never work (at least for the UK) as the provider appears to have to continually intervene manually to correct errors which they rely on Plex’s paying users to report. Often those corrections come too late.
To be fair, it’s 9 months since Plex changed their EPG providers (not that 9 months of rubbish is acceptable).
It’s not odd if you understand that Plex will not change their new provider (probably locked into a contract) and that this provider’s solution is not smart.
Plex is putting effort into mitigating the problem (@sa2000 is our point-man for that effort) but playing whack-a-mole does not address the underlying cause.
I’ve been most happy with channels app. Fast tuning and has not missed a recording since I’ve used it (Dec 2019). The EPG is also more detailed and updates appear quicker than Plex.
Plex used to use Gracenote, which was th same one used by both Channels and Emby. Gracenote seems more accurate for UK users. Not sure who Plex partner with now for feeds.
Yep. Uk EPG data is poor. For example, all ‘gardeners world’ episodes have generic descriptions, so you have no idea what that particular episode is about. It’s horrid.
I’ve had a Quatro previously. I seem to remember I needed to use an attenuator on the aerial coax, but can’t for the life of me remember why!
I just need to be able to record Coronation Street & Emmerdale etc for the missus. We’ve been relying on the catch up apps on our Apple TV 4K since ditching Sky, but the ITV Hub picture quality is just absolutely dire. Also live TV on the All 4 app is sketchy, and we have 300Mbps (900Mbps from tomorrow!) broadband.
Shame Plex sucks. Would have been nice to have everything in one - I sub to Tidal too.
