Plex DVR Guide Data

When are PLEX going to do something to improve the quality of the guide data for the UK. At the moment, the DVR feature is close to useless because the data is hopelessly innacurate

If you want to report bad guide data,. please read Reporting Plex DVR Lineup Inaccuracies & Current Status.

This thread is also being actively tracked and issues posted there are being addressed:

Reporting bogus guide data feels like being either Don Quixote or Sisyphus…
I have more or less given up on it and turned to something else. I have better things to do with my time (like reporting other bugs  ).

Do you have 3rd party options for xmltv? In Australia we were left with no other option.

A quick google, the first result may look promising and free

http://www.xmltv.co.uk/

Yes two, Comedy central and More 4. Do you use those?

I though your issue was inaccuracy, keep looking at the search results then

I would have thought being proactive was an option, looks like I was wrong in your case.

Were was I being veiled, I clearly stated I had to be proactive as Australian customers were cast off any direct support from Plex

Fellow plexian @JCHH always points to NextDVR, where you can use Schedules Direct as data source. Works fine for him in the UK, works fine for me in Germany.

Yes it is yet another tool and yes it is yet some more money to spend (~25 €/$ a year), but this seems much more reliable than what Plex is offering. This is what counts in the end in my opinion.

Thanks for your positive input, good suggestion.

Good luck with that assumption

I am interested in solutions, I don’t need to have everything in one place.
Sometimes it is better to a have a dedicated, specialised app/program for a certain task.
Plex is good at streaming files to any client. NextPVR is good a recording your stuff reliably, while Plex not so much.
In the end I always decide for the best solution. If one app has it all, good. But that is mostly not the case. Every software has its strong and weak sides…

And come on, you and I have been dealing with this pile of â– â– â– â–  for half a year now. Enough for me to give up on the high hopes that Plex will have a reliable guide any time soon.

NextPVR exists since 1996, schedulesdirect since 2007. They know their â– â– â– â–  probably.

That did not work for me, we got no service from plex for EPG on the change over

NextDVR doesn’t supply any guide data, but it let’s you use schedules direct as data source (because both are “non-profit” projects) or any other xmltv source.

Plex made a business decision in switching the guide provider. They probably had their reasons for it (money?). I completely understand your point and I wish you good luck in trying to “force” Plex into something different. If not wasting my time anymore to constantly improve the guide myself means consent to what is presented: be my guest. As long as they stick to the current provider, things will not improve significantly.

I guess Plex itself will see in the number of users actually using their service, whether it is a success or not. I cannot withdraw my stream of money from plex, because I am already a lifetime member. But I can stop using the service and stop wasting my time.

You sir can continue your fight and again, I wish you luck.

There is yet another option I just discovered in the emby forums:
With http://epg123.garyan2.net/ (or https://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/artful/man1/tv_grab_zz_sdjson.1p.html for linux) you seem to be able to get an xmltv file out of schedules direct. This you can “inject” into Plex and enjoy both in one place.
Haven’t tested it myself, just wanted to inform you guys.

Yes, at 2.08 $/month. Well spent money in my opinion. And you support a non-profit, open-source project by that

They are not selling spellcheckers

Now that you say it, I remember that might be the case.

You probably mean Great Britain, right? You can tell them that they are wrong. People love that in general

Agreed, but it has been 7 months and so it appears to me that either Plex doesn’t give a s*** or they do not recognise the problem as being serious. Either way, I doubt anything will change now.
