Grates me too - particularly as it should just work in what I have already paid for
sorry - I never used Channels. I may have mentioned it as an alternative though.
… and If you use working and correct guide data (ie. not the one from plex but XMLTV) then you lose the metadata as well.
For unknown reason, Plex has decided to throw away guide XMLTV metadata once recording is complete and match ONLY with online databases - which are of course often different or completely lacking (nevermind that Plex had the metadata all along from XMLTV)
So you start watching (and recording) a TV programme X with description Y, but end up with recording programme X with description Z (or no description at all many times if you record TV shows that arent part of the online tv databases)
Amazing huh ?
@sa2000 has said there are improvements to the guide happening.
This is not my experience. I have never recorded anything and had it change to something else.
It it has been “improving” for 10 months now, so don’t hold your breath.
Are you using XMLTV ?
If so, thats impossible as Plex does not use XMLTV metadata in the library or you’re just recording shows that have exact same metadata online as your XMLTV provider (in that case, who’s your provider ?)
Yes, I generate an XMLTV file.
