How Plex server get the name of a Client

Server Version#: 1.21.3.4014
Player Version#:Rasplex

Hello
I use to watch plex on a Rasplex-1.
I have cloned the SD of the Rasplex and I have now 2 Rasplex on the same Plex server.
I have change the hostname and the name in the rasplex preference for the Rasplex-2.
But when the Rasplex-1 is switch Off I see

  • in the rasplex server (on firefox connected to the server) that Rasplex-2 is conencted => Ok
  • in a IOS device (that I use as a remote control) that Rasplex-1 is connected. => Nok

If only one Rasplex is connected the remote control works…
But if the 2 Rasplex are On the remote control activate both at the same time!

Any idea to solve thei identification problem ?

Many thanks

Don’t clone. Perform a fresh installation on one of the SD cards

Ok that what I will do… but

it strange that it does not Works!
2 differents IP
2 differents MacAdress
2 differents Hostname
2 different Plex name
What use the server to identify the client?
And Why does it works for a web browser and not for the IOS app ?

A globally unique ID number, which is generated when the client is signed into the plex-tv account.

Errm, wasn’t this about Rasplex?

Maybe I need to sign in not with user / password? but with the 4 digit with plex tv link?

The Rasplex is the client, but I command it either with an IOS or with a PC web browser…

That doesn’t make a diference. The result is the same, no matter which method is used to sign in.

This has nothing to do with the controlling app.
By cloning the SD card, you had suddenly 2 devices which used the same clientID number. Which makes it difficult for other Plex clients to differentiate between them.

And there is no way to regenerate this clientID number ?
This clientID numberis only generate during the first Rasplex start?

I have forgotten how this ancient client is handling this.
You can try to sign the client out of the plex account, then restart and sign back in.

But you must keep in mind that by doing so, the access token of all “cloned” clients is destroyed, so they all lose access eventually.

Yes Rasplex is ancient but well optimized for Raspberry! … I have try PMP or Plex over Kodi but return back to rasplex

The clientID number is stored in the client ? or server side?
I have try to sign out then in for the 2 rasplex and it does not works… but I did not restart.
I will try again

After reboot it does not work…

Then go back to my first answer.

Yes thanks  thats I am doing now …
