I realize these things are under way which is great. I hope they are available soon.
I am slowly migrating out of iPhoto/Apple Photos. I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile now. Takes some time to do. I started a Plex Photos folder and just simply organizing in the Finder. I found a really great tool for viewing and tagging called Lyn. It gives you a very iPhoto style window that you can view your photos with. You can add metadata and do photo adjustments with it. There’s another newer one that I haven’t tried yet called Picktorial.
When trying to share photos with Plex I am hitting a wall. There’s simply no way to share select albums or photos right now. It’s either the whole library or nothing. I tried as a test to make a new separate shared Library in Plex and then just point to the albums (Finder folders) I wanted to include in it. While this works, it does not share group of images, they just become one giant list of images. Not ideal. If it kept the folder structure it would actually be not that bad. But it doesn’t.
I’ve also had a lot of issues with dates of files being ignored and not showing up properly. After reading some of the posts, seems like this is a known issue.
Looking forward to seeing it all come together. If these items get resolved, it’s going to make Plex absolutely the best way to share photos with others to any of their devices WITHOUT dumping up to a large corporate internet giant.
Thanks to the Plex Photo devs in advance! Looking forward to the updates!
