How do I share a photo album with other home users? I can share my entire library but they don’t get the albums?

Can I share albums individually?

I just tried setting up this so I could share photos with my parents (external user). The limitations on how to share photos makes it useless to me. I do not want to share my entire library. The whole point of labels, tags, albums, etc is to mark a set of photos. The ability to share a subset of photos in a library seems so obvious that I don’t understand why this hasn’t been implemented - especially since I can limit shares of movie and music libraries to a set of labels.

Jumping in for possible awareness.

Google Photos is starting to be a problem. Not everyone has (nor wants) Apple Photos. Photos are some of the most universal filetypes out there. Would love to be able to just share a Photo Album with users. Seems like it could be in the Restrictions area with an Album Label option like how tags and ratings are listed under respective categories.

Can this get some attention?

@Plex Any feedback? The whole photo-library really should get more attention.

  • Add restriction control
  • Way to share albums with a group of people for some time
  • Finding duplicates

I do support it, photo-library should definitely get more attention. An additional feature that might be useful

  • generate a link to an album that can be shared (read-only) with anyone (with download). Not only users on the plex server.

For the beginning it would be enough to add similar label based sharing options as with Movies, TV-Shows and Music libraries.

Please fix this!

I seem to be in the same boat. After having collected about 20k photos into the Plex ecosystem, I am now puzzled that there appears to be no way for sharing a specific subset either with Plex friends nor through a dedicated URL.

This is quite frustrating as photos, much more than movies and such, are what users want to share with friends and family. In this light, it is surprising not to have the most sophisticated and fine grained sharing capabilities developed for the photo library but for the other (admittedly older) parts of Plex…

It would be a tremendous asset for Plex if photo sharing were to be improved and brought to par with the alternatives out there.

Sharing albums would be a big plus, the same goes for sharing playlists.
Plex devs can you handle these requests with higher priority?

Just started getting Plex setup for the first time. It’s amazing, but not having this feature is a huge pain. To share, I really need more granular control. Hopefully this is in the works.
