I know Plex doesn’t currently have a way to share photo Albums. Hopefully that is on the roadmap. Trying Google Photos & Amazon Photos, neither service leaves your photo album structure intact (as on your server) to be able to easily share items.
Does anyone have any recommendation on what service does allow this?
I have no desire to re-creae all the albums on either service like I have setup on my server.
Yes, I just came from requesting photo tagging because that seems like the next most likely way to allow another Plex user to view a selection of photos I created. The best would be just to allow me to share my album. Plex is great but the photo side of things is sorely lacking. Who creates an album and doesn’t share it?!
Would love to be able to share photo albums , at least with managed users.
Yes, right now you share “Libraries”. I think for some people that’s fine. But what we really need instead of that monolithic share, is shared “Albums”. I keep all my photos in my library for organization - for me. But I would like to designate particular albums to share with family and friends. I don’t need or want to share the entire library. Albums should be a sub setting of the Library in the sharing panel for users. So it would either say “All” or if unchecked, it would show a list of the “Albums” underneath that you can designate to share with that user. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!
Plex needs to implement similar sharing feature used by Piwigo as stated on their website: “Make your photos private and decide who can see each of them. You can set permissions on albums and photos, for groups or individual users.”
wish this would be available today too
Just finished culling thousands of photos down to 6000 for my Plex server and would really find it useful to share an individual album with an individual. Sharing all 6000 pics would be overkill.
Sharing photo albums for home users is a must! What is the roadmap for this feature?
