I can’t find this option.
Here’s the example how it looks in NOVA Video Player for Android TV:
Does Plex client have it? I just can’t find it

Plex supports changing the offset for external subtitles.

With a Plex Pass you could also use Plex‘s automatic subtitle sync.
Tip! : It is not possible to adjust the offset for subtitles that are embedded in/part of the video file itself.
but why? most players can do it via SMB/DLNA, it doesn’t matter if srt substiles are embedded in container video file or a separate external file
I guess the working assumption is that embedded subtitles are usually from the same source (e.g. a DVD or Blu-Ray) which implies they should be in sync… or utilize some track metadata in the container to deliver the correct offsets.
External subtitles don’t have that option and might well originate from a different source.
In practice, it’s mostly about BDRip or WEB-DL MKV container video files, and sometimes it happens that subtitles are not properly synced (either too slow or too fast). Additionally, official DVDs don’t always include many languages—typically only 4 to 12 subtitle languages.
More subtitles can be added to BDRips or remuxes, especially on various torrent tracker websites. Usually, if a torrent tracker is specific to a certain country, most subtitles are modified to include only English and that country’s language. So such video content is quite popular.
So, of course, it’s not just about original DVDs or Blu-rays. In most cases, people download BDRips or WEB-DLs, which may have modified audio and subtitle tracks.
Though, here in this forum we won’t go into those torrents.
If you find subtitles to expand what’s already in your files… why not just keep it outside the container.
But it’s not about torrents.
Though Plex is mostly used for such content which are downloaded via them (just truth).
I don’t find/download any external subtitles. I just have bdrips and subtitles are already included in the container (mkv), but still they may have sync issues from time to time. DVD/BlueRay/WEB video content don’t include all languages in the world, so people do custom video content with specific languages but errors can occur from time to time, because humans can make mistakes.
I mean, it’s just weak argument that subtitles offest option is suitable more for external subtitles, I have used many video player apps for Android and Windows and they never had such limitation that it’s only for external subtitles, it’s just weird ![]()
