Any help regarding that ? Other users who are streaming remotely can’t upload their own subtitles!
Is there an option to allow it?
IIRC only the server owner can upload subtitles.
Does this also apply to pulling (downloading) subtitles??
There’ve been many occasions where trying to pull an srt for a file has been practically impossible. I’ve been able to pull one occasionally if I’m on the admin account, but I don’t recall ever being able to have success in pulling one in the LR (alt account, under the managed home setting -no plex account).
What do you mean by „pulling a subtitle“?
Edit: I get the term „downloading“ but I don’t understand the use case; if a subtitle has been recognized, users should be able to see/select it (manually or using the automatic selection from their account preferences)
Use case being:
Say you’re wanting to watch a show that’s native language is not English.
You start playback, attempt to do the “automatic subtitle search” (which is what I was referring to almost never working), and it comes up with no results.
Once in a blue moon when it actually gets results, you usually have multiple options to select from…
But in general, I’ve never had success pulling these on a ‘home managed user’.
Under settings -–> account–> audio and subtitle settings
What do you have selected here?
If it’s like mine you will hardly ever get any matches because opensubtitles has a very poor selection of forced or foreign language only subs
I don’t even use this feature anymore. I get almost all my subs from subscene.com and either burn them in or put them along side my files as an external .srt
I know if you have a Plex account with no server you can still download these subs on shared content
I’m not sure about managed users but I would imagine it’s possible if the subs actually exist
tom80h will have to answer that
I’ll probably be doing the latter I expect (external srt).
Appreciate the input on source, as I’ve got three or four srt sites to look into (so I’ll start with your recommendation and go from there.
Doesn’t seem to be a lot for Korean stuff though. Got hooked on Ask Us Anything aka Knowing Brothers aka Men on a Mission thanks to the early episodes (2015) on Netflix. Even ended up signing up with ODK to watch the stuff Netflix skipped out on. It was really quirky, but hilariously entertaining early on.
Thanks for the tips.
