If I made the mistake of choosing single instance for a recording instead of multiple/duplicates, etc. how do I change or fix this? Because of this, I’m having many issues of scheduling a recording of a tv game or show and it not going into the recording schedule but rather only appearing in the priority list and showing no future airings. So far the only workaround I’ve found to get something into the recording schedule is to go to the similar one in my dvr library and choose to unmatch it. I’m having to do this 2 days in a row now for Mariners games that all had the same title in the EPG because it’s a 3 game series. Any input on a way to fix these without having to go unmatch them first, would be greatly appreciated.
Perhaps no one understands what I’m asking, here. I was once given an option to choose single one time only of a repeating show as opposed to multiple/repeat. It seems once I’ve done this, I can’t go back and change it? How can I do this? I made a mistake doing this because it won’t allow you to record any future ones. Just places them on the schedule priority and says no upcoming airings, when there actually is. Can someone please tell me how I can go back and edit this after the fact to be multiple? Thanks!
I believe you can find it again in your guide as an upcoming episode and edit the recording parameters there, no?
I’ve just gone forward to one that airs this evening in the guide, and when I click on it, the only option I have, is to record with the usual advanced recording options. None of which include the options about single, multiple, duplicate, etc. I only saw those once and am unsure how to ever get back to them.
A picture is worth a thousand words, screenshots would help. If you have a Series recording set:
You can’t set individual recordings. Plex with a series recording set will display No upcoming airings if there are no episodes scheduled to air in the next 14 days that match your criteria specified for the series or if the airing already exists in the recording library specified. Take for example Seal Team that I have scheduled. There is an airing in the future but my series recording specified New airings only and the future airing does not match the New criteria.
The same could be true if you specified only airings on a specific channel, or specific time. The airing might exist but doesn’t match the criteria specified.

Thank you for the screenshots. Here’s what I’m struggling with. Where your Record Options shows to record all episodes, I chose single episode only on Wheel of Fortune. Because of this, if I now want to record another newer Wheel of Fortune episode, it won’t actually add to the recording schedule but only the recording priority and show no future airings, when indeed there are future airings. The only way I can get a new one to go onto the recording schedule is if I delete the previous one that I recorded from my DVR folder. It then schedules, fine, but same issue remains going forward. I can’t seem to ever get back to that screen in your screenshot where I chose Single verses all episodes, so that I can correct this. I’ve ran into this same problem with things like MLB series, Basketball playoff series, etc. I will never again choose single if given that choice, but can’t seem to find a way to change it after the fact on these ones I’ve messed up. Make any sense?
You should be able to add other single episode recordings but can’t have a series recording and single episode recordings at the same time. If you have a series recording setup generally it should grab the episodes you are wanting single episode recordings made for provided the episode doesn’t already exist in the library or some other criteria is preventing the recording such as a specific channel selected. For example, Big Bang Theory airs on two OTA channels in my area, CBS for current episodes and FOX for repeats. If I specified to only record the CBS channel for Big Bang then an episode in the guide scheduled to air on FOX would not be recorded.
Four single episode recordings all setup:
Single episode recordings listed in the recording Priority. Ignore the ones above the Wheel of Fortune. Running some testing on a build today so those recordings were earlier today.
Thanks so much for taking the time and screenshots with your response. Based on what you said, the only thing I can think of is there is a bug that is causing my issues. I don’t have the problem with jeopardy, yet I do have it with wheel of fortune and several other shows/sports series. I literally have to delete any previous version recorded to my DVR before it’ll actually go onto the recording schedule. Otherwise, just always says no upcoming airings even though it is in the guide and everything. Very frustrating.
Can you provide screenshots of exactly what you are saying. Might also need logs covering a time when you are setting up the recording.

I already deleted yesterdays Wheel of Fortune in order to be able to record today’s for my wife. I’ll take some screenshots the next chance I get where this is a problem. I also had to delete the last NBA Warriors @ Rockets game of this playoff series in order to get today’s Warriors @ Rockets onto the schedule. It’s almost like when it has the same name in the EPG, as one you’ve already recorded in your DVR, that it thinks there’s no upcoming airings. Yet, it works on some of them, fine, like Jeopardy. Just so odd.

Here is the same process today. You see, the guide shows today’s scheduled airing of Wheel of Fortune just fine, but once I schedule it to record, it never ends up in the recording schedule, but only on the right in priority with no upcoming airings. Also in advanced recording settings, I do have it set for any channel, any resolution, etc. You also see yesterdays sitting in my DVR folder, which, if I delete, I’ll then be able to schedule this one just fine into the recording schedule.
Why is it showing as Sports? Also do not see any season/episode data associated with it as shown below for the episode in my EPG.
Are you using an XMLTV guide?

Yep, I am using an XMLTV guide. Maybe that is currently still buggy with Plex? My guide definitely doesn’t show as much details as yours.
Guessing your XML file is not providing the season/episode information. The only thing I am aware of is I have heard that there are issues with categories with XML files but don’t know if that is with all providers. I have never looked at implementing an XMLTV in Plex myself.
