So this APK works for me with TrueHD. I am confused though if I have both optical AC3 and DTS enabled (I have an old vanila DTS and AC3 receiver. If I play TrueHD, it transcodes to AC3 now just fine. If I play DTS-HD it says:
The receiver indicates Dolby Digital and no sound comes out. I know I don’t have DTS-HD on my receiver but it was my understanding that was backwards compatible with Vanilla DTS? If I change my passthrough mode to HDMI and play the DTS-HD track, the receiver immediately switches to DTS and all works well. But then TrueHD will no longer transcode to AC3.
Also when trying to play AAC 5.1 it just hangs on the loading wheel now. If I switch it back to HDMI passthrough it will direct play as Stereo/Pro Logic. My assumption is in optical mode it should transcode the AAC 5.1 to AC3 5.1
Ok, attached is a log when trying to play a DTS-HD track via Optical Passthrough with AC3 and DTS selected. Playback device is an Nvidia Shield Pro running SE 9.0.1 Hotfix 3. Signal path is Shield > Audio Extractor > Optical Cable to Yamaha Reciever.
Regarding AAC 5.1, I updated PMS this morning to beta 1.25.5.5492-12f6b8c83 and now it’s transcoding to AAC 5.1 to AC3 properly. So that seems to be fixed. (I also tested DTS-HD after the upgrade but that was no good per the logs)
How does one select the beta track in the CCwGTV’s Play Store, or would this have to be side-loaded?
I know in any regular Android Play Store, the beta link is in the app description. Unless I’m missing it, the CCwGTV doesn’t list anything regarding the beta.
Oh yeah, that’s right. Thank you for the pointer, much appreciated.
It often seems that Plex is working backwards on features and changes. They roll them out to the general public, and then fix what’s broken in the beta. It’s the complete opposite of what betas are used for IMHO…
