Anyone know if in this new release the TVDB bug was fixed?
I haven’t read through the entire thread but there were 2 fixed related to TheTVDB that are included in the 1.0.3 release.
- (Metadata) Issues obtaining data from TVDB, requiring server restart.
- (Metadata) Fallback to English TVDB searches when searching with another language fails.

Just an information:
The bug still exist. I am not able to download all info of TVDB . Still get a corrupt metadata. Discription ok but no artwork or episode info… also no music theme.

Have you tried clearing the agent cache and then refreshing the show. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202967376-Clearing-Plugin-Channel-Agent-HTTP-Caches
I had been on (Ubuntu) plexmediaserver_1.0.0.2261-a17e99e_amd64 and on 7/21 updated to plexmediaserver_1.0.2.2413-7caf41d_amd64. That’s when a daily show I add to my collection (named with “showname - yyyy-mm-dd” began no longer moving into the correct season in Plex and no longer scrobbling to trakt.tv but instead was creating a season named with the year. Updating to plexmediaserver_1.0.3.2461-35f0caa_amd64 didn’t help. Nor did emptying the trash, cleaning bundles, deleting the plug-in cache for thetvdb or doing all that after moving the whole show folder out and then moving it back under a new name and updating the library.
It simply no longer could update at least that show properly, and after the clearing/moving to a new name, never managed to update with any information from thetvdb, not images, not descriptions – nothing.
I then downgraded to plexmediaserver_1.0.0.2261-a17e99e_amd64, renamed the show folder back to my original name, cleared everything again and started the update library process, and now all appears back to normal.

Yes! I did…but doesn´t work ![]()
There have been a few bugs accessing TheTVDB data. These should have mostly been fixed in 1.0.3, but there could still be something we missed. Can you Plex Dance the show Continuum and provide me the scanner and TheTVDB logs after you add it back. I have that series as well so I can compare results.

I have to upgrade to do it… I will post ASAP

Hi @anon18523487!
So what i did is create a virtual machine and install a fresh new system running Windows 10. Just after i install Plex Server 1.0.3.2461 and add library TV Shows (Séries de TV). Keep the same settings as my real machine (Set the app to Portuguese Brazilian) and when the VM scans the directory i still get the error (see images). The app is not “getting” the artwork and all the episode information from TVDB. Yes it loads the synopsis but not all content.
Just for your info, using older 0.9xxx versions the system can do a successful scan.
You can compare the logs of both versions and also with yours.
I think i have upload all the information you will need but feel free o contact me.
Thanks for all support!

VM - Running v. 1.03.2461:
Real PC - Running v. 0.9.17.2:
Since latest build this is happening for Movies as well, at least the one or two I’ve added…

Is this happening in English? I Know this is a bug for non english users.
Lack of BVT (Basic Validation Testing) at Plex headquarters. Basic bug after basic bug taking away basic functionality that worked in previous builds. Sad.
English for me definately. I’m going to rebuild the whole server system from scratch, go back to an earlier database version and put older version on until next release and hope that fixes it. There is so much weird stuff happening - Plex is writing high io or network storming or something. Everything works again when I unplug it’s network cable. Downgrading makes it go away… Sigh. I have to agree, there seems to be a need to do some better UAT here.

If you have ATV4 you will need version 0.9.14.3 or higher (you can use highest 0.9.17.2) if you don´t have ATV4 or PS3-PS4 you can downgrade even more.
I could run well 0.9.16.4 - 0.9.16.6 - 0.9.17.2.
Thanks for your support!

Hi!
I Just did a final test (for me :P) to check about this tvdb bug. Here my results:
This is a Real PC Intel G850 2.9 Ghz 4gb RAM
- Install Ubuntu.
- Install Plex v. 1.0.3.2461 (App set for Portuguese Brazilian)
- Create a new library of TV Shows (Library set for Portuguese)… There is no option for Portuguese Brazilian.
- Add folder that only has show Continnum (2012)
See attached:
I Still have the same problem of corrupt metadata file… It downloads some information but still not having artwork and episodes metadata.
That´s why i say… The devs should give us access to previous versions so we can handle this until they fix the bug.
Attached are all plex files to be analized.
Thank you for all support!

I have copies of older versions if you want. I’d be careful if you’re downgrading. If you like I will put them up somewhere… or just direct message me - I assume that’s possible on here.
@BrazMan - I was able to reproduce your issue. Yes this is a bug. Basically TheTVDB is returning 0 data in your language, so it was having issues falling back to English. There was a fix to solve this in PMS 1.0.3, but it still doesn’t work in all cases. The next version of PMS has even more fixes to it and should fix your issue. It is fixed in my testing.
I’ve got 0.9.16.6 and 0.9.17.2 for Synology (Intel-based) NAS.
While I’m glad to share with anyone you needs them, we still need a way to downgrade - unless you’re willing to blow everything away and start from scratch - which is what I’m trying to avoid.
But the bugs that break basic functionality are killing me. I’m about to pull the trigger on losing months of custom metadata and posters just to get Plex Server working again with my collection like it did in 0.9.16.6.
I think we need a daily branch we can hop to in emergencies for these fixes… This is a clear failure of testing before deployment. Basic things to test should be metadata scraping as well as other thing alike playback. I hope someone raises this in the roundtable discussions. Seems Plex have gotten early releases screwed up for Plex pass and making Plex pass customers the beta testers for the people without Plex pass. That’s obviously not the way it should be…

Hi @MovieFan.Plex:
Thank you for your support!
I am really glad that you can see it´s a bug! Even more glad because in your beta build this bug has gone
Hopefully this new version will not take a long time to become available. Please test it in all languages before ![]()
This whole thread is just to say that it´s not good for Plex Inc. to do this kind of things with us…
I really like Plex and i think that updates are welcome…but not the way Plex Inc. is doing.
As I say in my first post since some older versions that have trouble naming “MOVIES” It downloads the name in Portuguese (Portugal) and my app is set to Protuguese (Brazilian)…before someone say “maybe there is no metadata available in your language” no! this is not the problem! I was forced to format my PC and after scan the libraries again with a new version (I dunno know which) some movie files (that had the right metadata) start to be downloaded in Portuguese (Portugal). Now problem is with TV Series… The only reason i don´t install a really old version of Plex is because i have PS3-PS4 and ATV 4.
The worst thing is “blocking” people to download older versions… We should be able to download at least 2 or 3 previous versions in the official site. Another reason to that is: We are the people that support the company. I love Plex and i want the best for the app…but the latest builds has some annoying bugs.
The main focus of Plex (to me) is: Have all your libraries with a very nice user friendly interface and be able to have access to that over the internet … And Plex already did that
The other features are useless. There is a milion of apps that you can use to convert videos and the only really nice feature “CloudSync” doesn´t work (Plex choose that way)…otherwise it can get in trouble with amazon or dropbox.
Now i will kindly request to user: @marshalleq an older version to solve my mess here!
Sorry @MovieFan.Plex to repeat the history. I Really appreciate your help ![]()
Thanks everyone for the support! I wish the best for Plex.Inc.
Braz.
