I’m not running the same version of PMS as you, but shows like Marco Polo match just fine, just make sure your folder structure is correct. Some series can’t match properly without the Series Year in the folder name.
Mine is …\TV Shows\Marco Polo (2014)\Season 01\Marco Polo - s01e01.avi

The issue here is matching in another language, not the naming convention.

I’ve got 0.9.16.6 and 0.9.17.2 for Synology (Intel-based) NAS.
While I’m glad to share with anyone you needs them, we still need a way to downgrade - unless you’re willing to blow everything away and start from scratch - which is what I’m trying to avoid.
But the bugs that break basic functionality are killing me. I’m about to pull the trigger on losing months of custom metadata and posters just to get Plex Server working again with my collection like it did in 0.9.16.6.
Thanks for your post. After the post of @MovieFan.Plex let´s wait for the next build. Hopefully it will be fixed
Take the option “start from scratch” as LAST LAST option.
Braz.
Usually, I’d agree. But my problem has been for 6+ months and makes over 2000+ items (half my collection) unplayable. It’s been great that @MovieFan.Plex has offered to assist. But the fact the problem cropped up without any response for months - and required an email to the Billing department to illicit a response on the Plex Pass user forums for paying customers doesn’t inspire much confidence.
Waiting for a new build when the last 17 new builds didn’t fix the basic problem it a very tough sell.

I know what you feel! I am also upset with this situation. It will make me think twice when renew my PlexPass…Wait for next build…As you have a library with many items it always tuff to take this action.
It’s 0 for 2 for PMS. My issue wasn’t fixed either.
I provided 7 sample files that showed the problem playing MPG videos - but a fix came out today may have solved solved something, but not the underlying issue. Still unable to play 2000+ videos that worked fine with 0.9.16.6. I’d give anything for a way to downgrade.
Ok. Plex is actually working as expected. TheTVDB is actually returning a blank description for Continuum in Portuguese, http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=258171&lid=26. If TheTVDB were to indicate that there was no data, then Plex would default to English, but in this case TheTVDB actually says there is a description, it’s just blank.

Ok got it…But on 0.9.16.6 if there is no discription plex “check” and not have anything it just download the english version content. You will still need to work in this bug. It´s half way =P
I have content that says recently added in 21 years, resulting in staying at the front of the line on the dashboard, pretty much making recently added useless. Affects my windows 10 pms and ubuntu pms. It might be the tvdb meta data source, and the movie database meta data source, but why do they both do it…
@BrazMan - After further investigation by our top-notch devs, it turns out there is a bug from TheTVDB. Previously they would return an error when the description field is blank, so we did fallback to English. Now, they actually return an empty string. Once they fix this on their end, it will automatically fix in PMS. You’ll just need to refresh your library again. I don’t have a timeline for the fix but I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Hi @MovieFan.Plex,
Thank you again for your help!
I undestand the reason…but one thing keeps in my mind… If TVDB now “return an empty string” Why PMS does not fail in the previous versions? Did someone contact TVDB to let them know what is happening?
To test this new build I just did the same thing:
Install a new OS (Windows 10).
install PMS 1.10.2611 (there is no library to “refresh”)… Ok i tried this and keeps having the same error
Scan folder that only have TV SHOW “Continnun (2012)”.
I still can “manually add” the info in portuguese, but i will not have the music theme
It seems to me that devs change something in this part of the code.
This kind of thing that forces me to say: Keep the focus to the main reason of the app.
Sadly i will have to agree with member @dugn : “Waiting for a new build when the last 17 new builds didn’t fix the basic problem it a very tough sell” with this new build the counter now is 18
Keep in mind that we are only “discussing” the TVDB bug and i still have the naming problem with “MOVIES”
But as i say in some of the last posts: I really like the app and appreciate all your help!

Yes, TheTVDB has been contacted. We worked with them to identify the bug.

The theme music should not be affected by this bug. I recreated your issue but I still get the theme. Check the XML for any of the episodes. Do you have a value for the key grandparentTheme=? Also, each client has an option to play the theme or not, have you checked that this is enabled in the client you are testing with. If you are using Plex Web, it will be in Settings \ Web \ General \ Play Theme Music

Yes, there were some changes to the way the data was gathered.
This kind of thing that forces me to say: Keep the focus to the main reason of the app.
We apologize for the issue. It was not something that was expected.

I’m not sure what that even means. Your original post was after 1.0.1 came out. There’s been 3 versions since then.
Keep in mind that we are only “discussing” the TVDB bug and i still have the naming problem with “MOVIES”
I guess we sort of skipped that didn’t we. Can you give me an example of a movie (filename, movie name you expect and movie name you see) that this isn’t working on? What agent are you using for that library? In that agent setting, there is an option called Localized Title which tells Plex to use the title based on the library language. Make sure this is enabled, otherwise you will get the English title. Note that if you are using the Plex Movie agent, it only returns English titles for now, unless you enable the TheMovieDB agent and set it above the Plex Agent in the agent settings tab on Plex Web.

Sorry! Yes for me this bug is only after version 1.00… but you have to consider the other problems posted here.

Yes we did. I will give all the info ASAP. I can tell now that i check “localized” items and i use TheMovieDatabase agent.
Maybe this “localized” is the problem… Well i already try to uncheck and bug still keeps.
When you create a library PMS does not have the option “Portuguese Brazilian” Only “Portuguese”
Keep in mind :
My library is small (250 movies and 50 tv series) so i still can handle “manually” if some new build “break” my library but think about so many people (and i can garantee that most of them are Pass members) that has 1000, 2000, 3000 items in their libraries? If a new build “break” the library it will not be good to Plex Inc.
Thank you for your support! I will post the results in MOVIES ASAP.

My theory is: As PMS don´t have option “Portuguese Brazilian” when creating a library, it gets “Portuguese” (set in my library). Maybe the localized items is not working as expected. You should add a rule for PMS check the IP range to get this feature working.
Belive Me! There are so many diferencies between “Portuguese Brazilian” and “Portuguese”. I am not saying only about those 2 languages… also others.

I understand there is a big difference. I see that TheMovieDB recently added support for differentiating languages by country( i.e. pt-BR and pt-PT). I’ll have to check if Plex is able to handle this situation or not. If not, that could explain the issues you see with movies. Let me go investigate and I’ll get back to you.
Yeah, I’m still having library scanning issues and I’m in English. I deleted and reinstalled the Plex database and eye directory structure, red canned everything, then reimported the watch status. Often, I an manually choose match and that works (even on auto mode) but the scanner doesn’t pick stuff up. Will post some logs when I get the chance.
