How to exclude subfolders or files from Plex library

Server Version#:1.20.1.3252
Player Version#:

I have pic and music in my photos and music folder that I do not want to appear on my plex home server. Example: I have many business photos in various folders at various stages of editing and I have family photos all in their own sub folders within the NAS public photo folder. I only want to see the Family photos on the Plex, not only is there no need to see the business photos, but they are of huge volumn in number.

Also music, I have a lot of my music stored on the Nas in two formats, Flac and mp3. All my home devices will run the Flac well. I only have the mp3 files for some old phones and use on flash drives for my car. I only want the Plex to show and play the Flac versions. They now show up as duplicates with no way of knowing which is Flac and which is MP.

Thanks for any help.

.plexignore is your friend in this case. https://support.plex.tv/articles/201381883-special-keyword-file-folder-exclusion/

And you can add multiple, so if you have “Family” and “Friends” and “Vacation”, it’s probably easier & better to add the ones you want, instead of adding them all and then excluding the ones you don’t.

There is no limit to the number of folders you can add to a section.
Organize it how it makes best sense and, as said above, add the ones you want.
