I seriously can't believe it is a real pain in the butt to fix a simple problem like a broken thumbnail. I have several TV shows with partially downloaded thumbnails and I can't really figure out how to fix the problem.
I went as far as finding the bundle associated with the TV Show in the Metadata directory and deleting it, but still the metadata is stored somewhere else. I've found other ideas on the Internet but still nothing works. Changing the TV show to another TV show and back to the correct one does not help. Removing the show from the disk and updating the library and then bringing back the show does not help either. The damn broken thumbnails show back every time. Emptying the trash here and there between deletes did not help either.
Not sure if you have tried the following.
Attempt #1
Unmatch the problem TV Show
From the Home screen Gear Icon, choose "clean bundles"
From the previously unmatched show, choose match and select proper match.
Attempt #2
Movie problem TV Show out of scanned location
Update Library
Empty Trash
Clean Bundles
Move TV Show back to scanned location
Update Library
Cross Fingers for good luck ;)
Nop. I am now 100% sure the thumbnails are somewhere else as well. I even moved out everything in the metadata directory and left the whole directory empty. Then did different combinations of things and the broken thumbnail always comes back. Funny enough it comes back but there is still nothing in the Metadata directory. So they must be cached somewhere else.
If was pretty optimistic from the Plex team to design something expecting that there were never any problems and not providing a way to really refresh all metadata from scratch, Because refreshing from their own internal cache is not really a refresh.
Frustrating – having the same issue and NOTHING is working
