How to fix incorrect episode naming by TV scanner?

Hi all –

I’m having trouble getting Plex to correctly name episodes of a UK TV show called “Soho Theatre Live”. Here’s an example of how the files are named/stored:

Soho Theatre Live (2017)/Season 01/Soho Theatre Live (2017) - s01e02 - Jen Brister - Meaningless.mp4
Soho Theatre Live (2017)/Season 01/Soho Theatre Live (2017) - s01e03 - Nish Kumar - Ruminations on the Nature of Subjectivity.mp4

The new(ish) Plex TV scanner has been working great thus far, but for some reason, these get incorrectly named.:

  • The first one s01e02 is named “Nish Kumar”, which is actually s01e03
  • The second one s01e03 is named “Dane Baptiste”, which is actually s01e01

The file naming convention looks correct to me, and TheTVDB has the episodes named and numbered correctly as well. Any suggestions how to resolve/debug this?

Your file structure, correct?

s01e01 = Dane Baptiste
s01e02 = Jen Brister
s01e03 = Nish Kumar

This lines up with either TMDB (aired) or TVDB (DVD). The TVDB (aired) order is different.

Edit the show (pencil icon), choose Advanced, for Episode ordering choose either The Movie Database (Aired) or TheTVDB (DVD). Save changes. Refresh the metadata for the show if Plex does not do so automatically. Give Plex a couple minutes to download the new metadata.

Thank you @FordGuy61 – forcing the metadata load from The Movie Database (Aired) did the trick!
