How to force audio transcode as soon as media is added?

I have a combination of issues:

  1. My NAS is not the fastest in the world.
  2. My TV Is 2020 LG with WebOS that doesn’t have DTS.
  3. I don’t have any other devices, and would like to avoid purchasing, if possible.

Basically, most titles I want to watch have DTS audio, and that needs to be transcoded, and I have to have subtitles on, otherwise I often can’t comprehend the speech, it is what it is.

Is there any way to force transcoding of audio to AAC/AC3/whatever whenever a new title is added, and eventually for the whole existing library? If so, how would I do it?

That is, I’m assuming that with audio successful transcode I would be able to direct play with SRT subtitles.

I don’t think there is a way to make Plex transcode the audio when optimizing files. Even if it did though you would have to transcode the video as well. What I would do is run the files through Handbrake or look to see if they include a second track. Most of those files should include a second track and a lot of the time it will be in a much more universal format like AC3.
