Many times I have issues with sports not recording properly on the DVR. Most commonly Yankee games will record on MLB network which are blacked out in the local area. I have requested the ability to set a prefered channel for series recording but got no response.
THe more frustrating thing is I cant even force record the actual game on the correct channel and cant even force record the re-run of the game that plays later even if i change to new airs and repeats.
Is there a way to force the DVR to record an episode/time slot no matter what? This is really frustrating
Also, I deleted my yankees schedule and created a new one that says limit recording to YES network. HOWEVER it still is going to record the yankees game on the SNY network which is broadcasting it at the same time. Why is it ignoring the limit to channel? Its airing on both my specified channel and the other at the same time.
I don’t think that there is something like a force record flag.
But you can give the TV show that you want to definitely record a top priority in the list of shows to record (put it on top that is - I guess). The automatism behind the scenes recalculates what to record at what time.
I the show is listed as already in your library, then it would not record whatever you do.
Therefore, you should mark existing recordings as unseen, then move existing recording files to another library. The DVR would then recognize any new episode as “to be recorded”.
There are plenty of other reasons of a certain show or episode not recording (missing or wrong EPG data, DVR timeout with channel tuning, tuner data updates and so forth) which cannot easily be fixed at all.
