This is an issue that i had hoped would go away when they went back to the better guide provider but its still an issue.
The issue is I set up to record all NY Yankees baseball games which usually record on their regional sports network called YES. Once in a while a game will air on the local free to air channel WPIX11 so I cant set the series to only record on YES.
The issue is ESPN regularly lists NY Yankees games but they are all blacked out in the NYC area because we have to watch them on YES. ESPN only airs the games out of market. This means I am constantly losing games and instead of having the game recorded I have the black out programming recorded. The frustrating thing is on my Verizon FIOS DVR’s it always records the correct channel, it never records on ESPN when its not being aired on YES, so the correct info is out there somewhere.
What is most frustrating is even if notice the issue before hand plex gives me no way to fix it other than canceling the entire series and then manually setting it up to record with channel lock to YES. I really wish Plex would give a force record option for shows, so I could go to the airing on YES t hat is showing in the guide the same time as thee ESPN one and say force record this channel this time.
Anyone have a workaround? Can this be fixed with the guide provider?
