I did not ask for this, I do not want it, it is insulting to have this garbage force fed to us.
Using us for alpha testing or user acceptance testing is also unacceptable.
Here is an idea, make it a paid for option or a free option, THAT PEOPLE SUBSCRIBE TO, if it is that good then word will get out and others will jump on board OR NOT as they see fit.
I do not want this and it has got to a point where I am wondering if Plex needs a fork to a totally open source variant.
Seriously, I would rather have a âplex classicâ or a âPlex Liteâ that was an old version.
NOW PLEASE PLEX, publish the disable settings and STOP force feeding us software upgrades we did not ask for and do not want.
Also be honest, you did not do this out of the goodness of your heart, you did it to try and sell us SIDN and to profile us so you can sell our data to advertisers.
Why oh WHY could you not predict the negative feedback? Talk about bleeding obvious
Iâm actually excited to try this out. Iâm running plex in an unraid docker and trying to figure out how I can get to this beta, is it just not yet pushed to the docker? I donât see any tags for a beta channel in the docker hub. https://hub.docker.com/r/plexinc/pms-docker/tags?page=1
edit: nevermind, itâs just adding the :plexpass tag to the config. dockerhub shows it hasnât been pushed in a long time, but i guess thereâs backend routing that gets it through
I have too say that the search feature is the most annoying part. I really donât want it to show up if I have nothing enabled. Overall the search has gone worse than before. The fact its a beta feature but i cant turn it off is severly annoying
Firstly, I just love this Discover, Watchlist functionality and fully support it.
However, itâs understandable many wouldnât prefer it and want to disable this feature completely, having a full opt-out and disable option it is requested from Plex. Asking, since in 2017 you provided opt-out for Playback Data by listening to user feedback and something can be happened here too. So that both parties can be happy.
Iâm kindof a fan of this feature, however it really does feel invasive especially for a Beta. It should be opt in/out and shouldnât be any manner of presence to someone who doesnât want, or doesnât select other online sources.
And please fix your Search overall. Thatâs like a 101 function youâve totally borked.
This makes me want a Plex Lite option more and more, which would be a completely stripped down, no frills, local sources only version with ZERO online sources.
EDIT: Great features should feel like they fit seamlessly into the experience.
The problem is that once they create something like this how can you trust that they will do what they say they will do when they have behaved in such an underhand way in the first place.
It is like someone stealing from you and you are supposed to trust them after.
For example, WhatApp told us they were going to share our personal details, they said if we did not agree we should not download the next version or we would be accepting it.
I did not download it.
They then made the version I have stop working, they nagged me every day for 2 months then they kicked me out of all groups including chats with my family and the app stopped working.
6 months later I found they shared my data anyway, so now I am taking legal action against them under GDPR and encouraging other too as well.
If Plex want to be open and upfront saying âToday we decided to sell our soul and your data on the free version of Plex but we are offering an open source version from 3 years ago or you can use the latest version with no selling of your data then we offer a one off lifetime license or a monthly $1 a month subscriptionâ then I could live with that.
It is not my Plex data that is the issue, it is what can be done with my Plex data if they combine it with all the other data, which no matter how astute I am they will find a way".
I know this because I have been on the other side of the fence with medical data.
Another voice to please let me disable this. I do not want any streaming services or online content sources whatsoever, my plex is private and 100% local content. Thank you!
So is this just an issue with people using search? I havenât even noticed it since I never use search. You guys must have some enormous libraries. I donât notice a thing under continue watching and recently added.
Bug: The one thing I did notice is that when using discover and clicking the service the video is in it takes me to a page that says: Linking to content within other apps is currently unavailable.
I personally was excited too try out the feature, but sadly I get an unexpected error now in the window and web app. Kinda buggy and now I cannot watch a movie!
Error happens when on home screen in a second or so and each time I click Streaming Services. Have to refresh the web-browser to work but when going to home it again breaks. This is frustrating. attached the logs Plex Media Server Logs_2022-04-05_21-13-28.zip (3.1 MB)
Itâs more than that, it prompts you to setup (which is confusing for my family members using plex) and the unpinned discover tab doesnât seem to be removable.
is this watchlist also available without displaying the streaming providers? I donât have a subscription and I donât want to constantly see where itâs available and how much it costs
I know, you gotta make investor happy, and I can see that it reflects on the fact that Plex doesnât add any âtechnical featuresâ to Plex anymore, because this makes only users happy and doesnât bring any revenue in.
But to be fair, can you at least make it a non-pass feature where Plex Pass users can disable it? You canât treat both user bases the same way?
