How to help diagnose subtitle issues

I’ve been having some issues with subtitles the last few months and want to know what to look for in the logs or other location to properly report so hopefully fix it.

My friend has issues where he won’t get subtitles on android when transcoding, but when original quality it’s fine. I have issues where subtitles will play on iOS, but the exact same title on iPadOS they don’t play. I’ve tried most basic troubleshooting steps like resetting the app and clearing cache and reloading/scanning the episode but nothing works.

Any recommendations on what I should be looking for to find out why they don’t play?
