I have Plex server running on my mac mini back in US but I’m in Japan now with a copy of my library, so I’d like to add my mac laptop as a server while I’m here.
When I login, I see my my macmini server but I don’t know how to add my mac laptop as a local server while I’m in JP.
After installing the PMS and running it on your MacBook, make sure to access the bundles version of Plex Web to complete the server setup . If you’re on the same machine, open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web.
This should give you an option to complete the server setup, e.g. naming your newly installed server, deciding if remote access should be enabled, creating a first set of libraries… and to link it to your Plex account.
Once the setup is complete, the server and its libraries will show up in the web app and other clients‘ sidebar navigation (not only the bundled web app).
Thanks for your reply!
It’s working now. The issue was that I had installed Plex with a different e-mail on my laptop before. Once I uninstalled PMS and deleted all related files, cache and signed out + restart, I was able to install as it supposed to be.
