Newbie to this ATV3 Hack, where can I find hack install procedure to enable plex media server on my sinology DS1511+

At the top of this forum, there is a pinned or “stickied” post titled “read before posting”. It has a lot of useful and necessary information to get started with Plexconnect including Synology stuff.

Cannot resolve problem finding PMS on synology DS1511+, i find ok on laptop and mobile so assume synology is working fine.
 
managed to find plexconnect.log file from command window any help would be appreciated

I stay out of the NAS and Windows stuff but have you looked at this thread?

I am using a windows 8 laptop to run plexconnect.py

pms is on my synology ds1511+.

I assume all i need to do is hack apple box and it should find my pms server

You are already running another DNS server, I can’t help you further than that as you did not provide the info requested in the “how to report an issue” sticky.

Also why not run PlexConnect on the Synology?

Please find more info below, hope this helps with my issues.

 

ATV Model MD199B/A and firmware version 5.3(6105) OS Build /version6.1.4(10B0809)

The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS):

PlexConnect is installed on: Medion P6620 Laptop operating system Windows 8 64bit

The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on:192.168.0.9

Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: Synology DS1511+ x86

The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running:0.9.7.28.32-f80a4a2

The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on:192.168.0.3

The PlexConnect version number. 20:00 25-06-13.

The content of my 'Settings.cfg' file:

[PlexConnect]
port_pms = 32400
enable_plexgdm = True
ip_dnsmaster = 8.8.8.8
ip_webserver = 0.0.0.0
loglevel = Normal
enable_dnsserver = True
ip_pms = 192.168.178.10
port_webserver = 80

you said "why not run PlexConnect on the Synology?"     Tried but get error "please install Python version 2.7.2.1, I would but cannot find *.spk file for this version on net for synology.

Hi f00b4r,

As advised followed link and downloaded new version "plexconnect_noarch_0.1-1.spk" tried to install on synology and got same error as before but now asking to install python version 2.7.3.3 which I cannot find *.spk file to download.

If you read down the thread it has instructions of where to get the Python install from.

Already tried link you suggested but this site has been under maintenance for days, is there any other site I can get Python install from?

I would ask in the Synology thread as I do not own one so cannot answer that I am afraid.
