I gather Plex was given the ability to link with the tv app on ipad/iOS/Apple TV - I can’t get this option to work. Tried streaming from plex’s online offerings, checked for updates in version, can’t see anything obvious unless this was on,y put into the tvOS version , which would seem a very strange choice.
I reinstalled the app to try and trigger the notification to allow, nothing doing. Thoughts?

On tvOS, Plex can provide items for the Apple TV’s home screen “Top Shelf” media display. Is that what you’re referring to?
Plex can’t integrate personal content into the “TV” app. That integration requires media providers to give Apple a feed of available media. That’s not possible with personal media servers like Plex.
Edit: I wasn’t actually aware that Plex had integrated the Plex streaming content as described below. Cool!
On iOS, if you use the global search in the system Notification Center or the Apple TV app and search for something that we have in our online catalogue, it will offer to open it in our app. Here’s an example of a search for Django Unchained in iOS.
Like was said above it only works with our streaming content, not your server library content.
