was told to change my password - trying to login to plex app on fire tv. it shows a web page: plex.tv/link and says to enter 4 characters. the link does not work - it goes to a standard login page and says nothing about a code login method - please advise - i do not see an alternate way to login manually on fire player for plex - urgent please!
The plex.tv/link page is going to go to a standard login page of you’re not logged in on the browser of the device you visited it on. After you log into the Plex account, then you will get prompted for the 4 character code on the Fire TV.
If you reset your password as the site said to, you logged out all the web browsers that were logged in before.
thanks - i did figure it out on the 5th browser i tried but only because i was logged in on that browser earlier. there is NOTHING on the plex player page that states you need to login to plex FIRST before the code can be accepted into the browser - from the text it has now, you are just supposed to enter the code - nothing about requiring login first before it will work on either page - major fail of documentation in my mind. Plus no normal login option is available - that is unacceptable. thanks.
… How are you expecting the /link site to know whose Plex account the Fire TV device needs to be linked with, if you’re not logged in to Plex on the browser first?
i’m not the one who needs to answer that question, i’m the end user who is pointing out that the link shown does not work and text should be added indicating that AFTER you login you can enter the code - nothing on the player or the resulting login page indicates there is another step involved - it simply appears to be a faulty broken page that does not mention the code in any way. i have setup many apps on FireTV with this same method and they did not require login before the code was accepted. perhaps they are unique codes that timeout - regardless - the system they have setup now is not intuitive.
