How to migrate Plex server from Synology DS415+ to DS420+

I’m migrating my Plex Media server from an old Synology DS415+ to a new DS420+
I will keep the same folder structure for the media files on the new NAS.
Is there some way to migrate all settings from my current Plex server to the Plex server on my new NAS?

Stay safe!

One method is to take the drives from the first and place them in the new carriers for the new.

If using that method, use the Synology Assistant to install DSM (which does not harm your data) for the new NAS. (Synology stores DSM in separate disk partitions)

Thanks for answering.
I’ve considered that alternative but since only 2 drives are moved to the new NAS I’ve opted to use Migration Assistant to move all data to 2 new, and larger, drives in the new NAS. I’ve actually already started this process.
I’ve made a lot of setting changes in Plex and was hoping that there is a way to export them to Plex in my new NAS.

Thanks Alexandre. I’ll check this out. Hope it works.

To CLONE Plex from one to the other:

  1. Make a ZIP of the Plex share’s Library directory (Plex must be stopped to do this)
  2. Take that ZIP to the new system.
  3. Unzip it
  4. Now set the ownership of Library (including all sub-folders and files) to plex.

This is a clone so don’t start the old server without first deleting the preferences.xml file.

Thanks, I’ll try it.
