The standard way sorting of titles is to ignore any leading articles like the, a or many others. That is what you see in libraries and just about any sorted list of titles used by most people. It is the correct sorting in almost every language.
However if you wish to fly in the face of convention the Plex provides a quite easy way to get the sorting you want, simply enter whatever you want in the sort field. If you do not wish to do it that way then it must not be particularly important to you.
As far as the changes of exclusions by language goes it does seem pretty simple to use a different list based on the library’s language so, if that list is how Plex works then it should be possible to have a custom list that does not include whatever a user wants Plex to not ignore.
I do not think Plex should spend any time on customizing sorting for a tiny minority that want it done in a manner that is non-standard but, if it is done by a list that is editable, then Plex should simply tell users where that list is and what it is called so a user can edit it as desired.
Personally it seems that if sorting included the leading “THEs” and “As” then it would be a lot harder to find a particular show in a long list.

I’m new to the app, but I also am facing lots of confusion in working through with library with “the” article ignore sorting. I can count numerous shows that I see problem with when someone goes in to look into with sorting based on anything after “The” article:
13. The Vampire Diaries
I think you are in a tiny minority of people that care or categorise in the way you do with regards to “The”. For the vast majority of (at least the English-speaking) world, “a” and “the” are pretty much automatically disregarded when searching for anything.
One classic example would be “Silence of the Lambs” which I suspect 99% of the population would not realise was actually titled “The silence of the lambs” and would never dream of looking in the “T” section of any library.
However, as Elijah points out, if for whatever reason you want to be different to pretty much everyone else then knock yourself out and edit the “Sort Title” field in your shows starting with “the”…

Please, next time before you both write useless paragraphs which shows that you haven’t even read the topic, just read the topic.

Maybe you should read the topic before castigating others? As was pointed out already, the hidden server option does not work on shows already in your library…

It won’t change the ‘Search Title’ on existing items retroactively.
Someone liking this option is subjective. A matter of opinion. There is no right or wrong here. I prefer ‘The’ being with the T’s as well. All four of my Kodi boxes are setup to NOT ignore ‘The’ when sorting. I think you guys need to get out of your box.
Either Emby or Plex has code that can be added to fix this. I’ve done it before a while back but I forget which client it was. And it didn’t just fix it for newly added titles.
It’s simple, using iMDB to register titles and this works great on this wonderful App, can’t find anything better for this purpose, I think it’s stupid to ignore the original title. Therefore, “A” Solution to “THE” Problem is necessary, and there is no chance in hell I ever going to pay for this service if “THE” brains behind this don’t bother.
On top of this, I’m even more stupid in some users eyes when I tell you I also manually put Movies how I please, so all “THE” Fast and The Furious Movies are sorted my year, I don’t want to look over nearly thousand titles to have them listed accordingly, so this is MY CHOICE! However, “THE” and “A” is first in line to be considered start of “A” Title, absolutely NOT to be ignored, ignorant people.
It is easy to imagine what Columbus Feld like, when everybody else on the ship thought the Earth was a plate, ignorance will never brighten anyone’s horizon.
I do not know why anyone would keep bringing this up. Plex implemented a fix some time ago, if you are interested all you need to do is read a bit, and anyone that wants to sort in a way that is alien to all the standards can set Plex to do so.
It is my belief that Plex does a LOT of things wrong but sorting is NOT one of them and for those that want their sorting to be wrong Plex provides an easy way to murder the sorting.
