How to restore album art and movie posters after moving PMS to a new computer?

I upgraded my Windows 10 PC (installed OS on an SSD) and must have skipped a PMS migration step, so I lost some (not all) movie posters and album art which I cannot seem to get back (my media files are on a NAS).

I found a few forum posts addressing the issue, but nothing I tried so far worked (removing files from cache folders, etc). The only recommendation I haven’t tried yet involves renaming media files and performing a refresh (I suspect that I’d lose metadata that I entered manually and there are other reasons, so don’t want to do this).

I’m only interested in restoring/regenerating posters from media files (video snapshots or music ID3 album cover tags). I have the respective library configuration settings to “Use embedded tags” (music) and “Enable video preview thumbnails” turned on. The server’s library configuration section is set to generate video preview and chapter thumbnails as a scheduled task and when media is added. I tried refreshing the library multiple times, but nothing worked thus far. Is there anything else I can do to get the images back? How do I generate the posters from the video files and ID3 tags of the existing libraries without having to rename/remove/re-add media files? (I’m running the latest version of PMS.)

Thank you.

Okay, I think I figured it for music: to regenerate album covers from embedded metadata (ID3 tags), I open a music library, select the Album view, locate the albums without the cover art, move the mouse over the cover art placeholder, click ellipses (…) and select the Refresh option from the menu. Hope it helps someone.

I still need to figure out how to re-generate posters for the TV series episodes (from the video files). Will update later if I figure it out.

I just did the Windows 10 upgrade, and lost all of my libraries!!! I have absolutely nothing!! I’m hoping there is a way to restore from the old settings. Nothing in Plex instructions about this!
