How to run plex media server only on synology nas 24/7 without a pc/laptop?

just brought a new nas and i hope to run plex media server 24/7 without the need of a bulky desktop or laptop being left switched on eating power.

can a nas box do this on its own?

would love to know how, please?

i do have a nas that’s capable to run on its own and handle trans-coding. all my media are .mp4 format, so most of the time, i’m ‘direct streaming’ my media.

i use my desktop pc to access the nas diskstation and make my plex changes. however, when
i switch off the desktop will the media server remain on or off, thats what i want to know?

If you install the server onto the NAS and use this one instead of the one on the Windows box, yes.
The two servers will be totally independent. No Plex data will be shared among them.
