I;ve got my Plex server running on NVIDIA Shield. It gets my OTA channels from an HDHomeRun 4K Flex. Many of these channels are not yet available in the Plex guide. I am aware of the forum thread that lets you post missing channels and have done so. While waiting for these updates, is there any way I can select the channels to play in the Plex player? I can get the links from the HDHomeRun interface and would like to put them in some sort of playlist if possible. There presently is no way to select these channels directly from Plex.that I have found.
Plex DVR is relying on the guide. If there’s channels that have no guide information, you probably won’t be able to record any of their programs.
I don’t want to record them, just select them and watch in the Plex player.
If you just want to be able to watch the channel, assign some unused channel’s guide data to it. For example, in my own environment I don’t watch shopping channels (QVC, HSN, etc.). So I leave those channels disabled in my setup. That allows me to assign their guide data to another channel which has none available (and likely never will) so I can at least select the channel for viewing.
