Hi,
I’m on a Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) connected to a Samsung TV (Q75R here but it’s Q70R in most other countries) which doesn’t support DTS and without a sound system for now, but would like to have Plex transcode DTS 5.1 to AAC or anything else my TV supports. It’s stuck on direct play and I couldn’t find any option in either the client or server for transcoding just the audio and Plex didn’t automatically convert it. I’m using the shield for the player as well.
When playing it on my PC through the Web app the server transcodes it without issue, as I can see from the dashboard :
however when it’s the Plex Media Player on the Shield it’s Direct stream.
HDMI Passthrough of audio was on which prevented any sound coming out of the TV due to it not supporting DTS, but sound still came out of the TV even with direct play after I turned that off, but if possible I’d still like to know how I can get it to convert so I can play it with passthrough still on.
I’m a complete newbie to using Plex and codecs in general but after looking around everywhere in settings and online I still cannot figure out how to get it working. I’m not sure if it’s because I don’t have the pass yet but it still transcoded in the Web app though… Can someone help me with this?
Also in a somewhat related issue, after searching a lot I found out that there were XML files for transcoding settings and custom ones could be made as well. I have the plex media server in a user accessible location of the shield but there was no Resources or Library directory within the Media Server at \internal\Android\data\com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb\Plex Media Server
and Android.xml was nowhere to be seen, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here.
