The last three releases (1.42.x - 1.43.3.x) have issues on my M1 Macs - the control overlay won’t move out of the way and they crash when resizing the window. Because of these problems, I wanted to revert back to v1.41.x. I found the download file and was able to reinstall that version of the player. However, after the application was relaunched the new version would be automatically installed.
After some digging I found that I was able to turn off the auto updating of the player by editing the plex.ini file on my Mac. It is located at ~/Library/Application Support/Plex/plex.ini. To stop auto updates, add disableUpdater=true to be the first item in the [debug] section.
