I’m using the latest Plex Client on a Nvida Shield. After a period of idle time I assume Plex goes to sleep and I get a “No Signal” message on my LG TV. Is there a way to turn off the screen saver function?
Are you sure that’s not the Shield going to sleep? Plex itself wouldn’t go to sleep, but it wouldn’t prevent the Shield from going to sleep when there is no active signal playing (sitting at the main Plex screen, having the video paused).
The only setting I am aware of you can change on the Shield is the duration for how long before the Shield screen saver goes off. I don’t remember the default as I changed mine to 5 minutes because I have an OLED. On the Shield, you would want to go open up the settings (I don’t remember the button to do this with on the Shield remote as I used a Logitech Harmony remote and have it mapped to a specific button from me or you should be able to click the gear icon in the top right corner next to the clock). From the settings menu go to “Device Preferences” scroll down to “Screen saver” and then go to “When to start” to select the duration.
That’s only going to impact the screen saver but from reading online it does sound like the Shield might go to sleep on it’s own after an hour of no activity (which makes the screen saver option after 1 or 2 hours seem strange). I know that my Shield has gone to sleep while I’ve had the screen saver on and an hour does seem like around how long the screen saver was on for.
TLDR; This is not a Plex “issue” but the Shield itself going to sleep.

Thanks for the reply. This no signal event ONLY happens when the plex app is idle. Not on Netflix, YouTube TV, Prime video…or any other app that is idle.
