Nvidia Shield screensaver does not activate if Plex is open

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this. I have an Nvidia Shield connected to a Samsung TV. The Shield is set to display a Google photos screensaver after 5 minutes of inactivity. This works in all apps with the exception of the Plex client. If Plex is open then the screensaver does not launch, even if Plex is just sitting in the menus. Instead what happens is the entire shield goes to sleep meaning the TV defaults to the “select an input” screen.

Weirdly enough while I was reading your post my shield went to the screensaver while I had Plex open. But I think I may have experienced this recently. Is there anything specific that you used Plex for before the screen saver would not appear? I am just wondering if the app may still think something is happening.

I will try reproduce it though.

Nothing specific, just general use and it happens 100% of the time for me so it should be fairly easy for me to get logs. I’ll try and get a logcat!

@morganj I have managed to capture a logcat of the moment. This is from a few milliseconds before the screensaver is supposed to kick in. Plex was just sitting in the menu at the time.

Mine is doing this in other apps as well. Netflix is one.
