Use a different player software which supports also passthrough.

So, you know that your AVR is able to decode DTS, but somehow your PC cannot ‘bitstream’ those sound formats.
I had a lot of trouble playing hd audio, in the end I switched to Kodi and use the Plex plugging, if you have tried it what did you select as “output device”? Mine only works if it’s in "WASAPI: HDMI - (your receiver name here)
