How to update Plex Server on MyCloud Home

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2350

Hello,
I wanted to try the new “Skip intro” feature but this is only possible on version 1.19.3.2793 or newer. Therefore I wanted to update my Plex server that I’m running on a MyCloud Home server.
It says in this article that updates are only provided by Western Digital… Does this mean I always have to wait for Western Digital to publish a new update when they’re up for it? I’m currently testing Plex Pass and would appreciate it a lot if I’d be able to try new pass member features when they’re originally released without having to wait for WD to release an update.

Is there another solution to update my Plex server on a WD MyCloud server?

Thanks a lot.

Nothing you can do except maybe to ask WD support about it… maybe it helps speeding things up a bit if enough users complain – then again… who knows

Edit: as a fallback to get your tests going… how about installing a desktop version of Plex on a regular PC / laptop of yours (e.g. on Windows or in a Linux VM if you don’t want to corrupt your regular computer). You can mount the WD MyCloud Home drive from the PC and connect this separate server to the same media files.

Good idea! Thank you.
