When visiting Plex.tv > Settings > General I see I’m listed as running Version 1.13.5.5291.
A recent eblast from Plex said: "Starting January 31st, Plex Media Server version 1.18.2 or higher will be required to continue fetching TV show posters and episode thumbnails from TheTVDB."
So this seems like it’s about to suck for me? Plus I’d love more data on my users but it always says I need a higher server version. How does one do this?
My Shield is running Plex app version 7.26.0.
So whats up?
And of course, sorry if this was already covered, but I didn’t see it and would have preferred Plex link to a forum post about this rather than say “find more info on forums”.
Thank you so much! This has fixed all my issues. Which for anyone reading this included:
“unable to play media” which occurred on my Plex/Shield. Yet not on my Plex installed into Smart TV. I also would get this on the android app when chromecasting. All my users we’re fine. It was just me suffering.
auto play was broken, an episode would end and then take me back to the episode details screen.
I don’t know why but I just assumed, a Shield was sold with the PMS installed and whatever one you got was what you got. I didn’t think it would be a separate item from the Plex App (who did auto update). But now my PMS is up to date and working well.
The versions of PMS and the Android client app that come included with the Shield are just like other system files. They cannot be removed, but they can be updated.
