How to Use Plex Music Import Correctly With your own classified music.

HI there,

Let me explain what I would like to do, as I am a little confused why I cannot load my music as I would like to see it.
All my media has tags - correctly placed
My Folder hierarchy is as follows:
X://MUSIC/LABEL NAME1 - 100+ tracks from same Label - but different Artists
X://MUSIC/LABEL NAME2 - 50 tracks from same Label - but different Artists
X://MUSIC/LABEL NAME3 - 1,000 tracks from same Label - but different Artists
X://MUSIC/LABEL NAME4 - 700 tracks from same Label - but different Artists
ETC ETC ETC…

The Tags in those folders are as follows:
Artist/Title/Album Artist/Album/Track #
Album Artist = Artist
Album = LABEL NAME

Trying to achieve that - when i search by Album - the label “album” shows up with all its track within them
When I look at Artists - those are grouped if same artist is present
When I look via folder - shows the folder.

I tried to load to Plex adding just the folder x://MUSIC - that added all songs separately - whether I searched for By Folder, By Album or By Artist (although By Artist seems to group songs correctly) the same folder of 147 tracks - had - 105 folders, 116 albums…

I tried to load each folder separately X://MUSIC/LABEL NAME1 and adding each folder to library - but same as above happens.
By testing this only on one folder with reduced number of tracks to (30) for efficiency - emptying Trash and deleting Library every time.
In Create - selected Plex Premium
In Advanced - selected: Use embedded tags - Gracenote 75 genres all selected.

These are my results:
Changing Tag “Album Artists”
Artist: By Album 29 results - 29 Artists - 30 Tracks…
Blank: Album appears as Label name - but Artists are now all Various Artists - Tracks no longer have artist name - just VA - title.
Various Artists: Same as Blank
Label Name: Album appears well - however - tracks now have Label name instead on Artist
Changing Tag - Album to Blank - and Album Artist to Label Name: Same as above but with [unknown Album] under Albums…

Ideally - I would like this media to show each folder with Album (Label Name) with all tracks, If i select Tracks - it still shows the Artist and Title without the Artist being changed to VA or Label Name and Artists being grouped if possible when I select Artists.

I was hoping that the Artist Tag would be picked up by searching via Artist, without other tags overriding it.

Any help would be appreciated if my idea is at all possible on Plex.

Hi,

Ok currently my file hierarchy is as follows:

Media X://
…|_ Source Name (not in tags)
…|_ Label Name
…|_ All MP3’s

In Plex, under the same “folder” I added each individual folder “Label Name”

In Tags,
I have the normal -
Track # - Artist - Title - Album name (which is Label Name in my case) - Cover Art - Year - Genre
Now - AlbumArtist - is where all changes in Plex -///

I would like to be able to search in Plex:
1: If I choose Album in Plex - i’d like all Label Names in one entity…
2: If I choose Artists in Plex - I’d like to see the Artists name grouping his stuff together from all Labels
- I guess this is the problem where Plex cannot search like this, and from my trials I only have two options -

Either use [VA] for all and have my Label Names in one entity in Albums, or,
fill AlbumArtists with Artist - but then in Albums, its all one music file separate…

Unless, I am still doing something wrong and someone may have a solution for me,
