How's the plex guide and gui on Android tv lately?

My streaming service is no longer cost effective, they’re just as much as cable tv with less channels. Thinking about going back to the Silicon Dust Home Run and Tv Tuner. How is the Plex Live TV Guide and Gui these days with Android TV? I know it was VERY slow a year+ back. I’m hoping it’s improved since.

Keep looking, Plex is still the last thing you want to use for live TV on Android.

Channels DVR is probably the best solution out there right now, though also one of the most expensive at $80/year.
Emby is another great solution and you can buy a lifetime pass for $120. It’s not quite as polished as Channels, but (unlike Plex) it’s rock solid, works as advertised, and is considerably cheaper over the long run.

I’d suggest trying out each of those for a month and see which one fits your needs the best.

Emby certainly does much better for live TV, but they lack some basic features such as the ability to record to specific libraries. That said, you can’t actually schedule Plex recordings on Android because it’s broken. You can on the web app though.

I actually was using Emby, but I switched back to Plex because of Skip Intro, Skip Ads, and ability to record all airings of specific sports team. In fact, I’m not even using my TiVo anymore because of these features. I’d jump back to Emby immediately though if they added these features.

thanks for the input.

Yeah you should go the Emby route, Plex player sucks more and more with every new release…

No complaints about the plex server improvements.
