How's the upgrade 1.40.0.7998 going for Synology users here?

It seems like my server is going down about once per day and I’m not sure why. I’ve already created another post on this but it’s not seeing much action. I saw that our friend ChuckPa is on this thread and if anyone can help, it’s probably him. :slight_smile:

After looking through the forums I tried running the PlexDBRepair utility and an “auto” run showed no issues and once I spooled it back up, the server crashed again about 8 hours later. I just don’t know.

Here’s my latest log dump. Any support I could get would be much appreciated.

@luke.mcguire

You got a lot of craziness going on in there.

What on earth is this?

All the DB queries ??? (searches within milliseconds??)

Then playback attempts back to back with no possiblility of even starting

Something is beating the snot out of it.

I and some of my users are having sporadic playback issues/errors since I upgrade to 1.40.0.7998. I have a Synology DS220+. Happening to me on Win11 in Firefox, but other users are using different clients.

There are a lot little issues with 1.40.

While it is public release now, If you want to back down the the most-recent you have that’s stable then that’s OK too.

(Being stable and viable is better than bleeding edge)

That’s… a great question. I have no idea and that log information is not terribly informative.

Anything I can do to try to get more detail?

2 posts were split to a new topic: Windows → Unraid migration without losing shares

I had to downgrade since I had no luck with 1.40.0. logs mentioned sql faults… but 1.32.8 works great

@ChuckPa just wondering if you have any further sense of the stability issues…or if anyone else wants to chime in here on whether to keep holding off on 1.40.x for Synology users?

I was going to test, but then got into a really busy patch at work so decided to hold back for a little bit…

@StealingTime

The upgrades are going well.

The biggest issue is for those users who have large databases and don’t wait long enough before panic.

The way to do this:

  1. Open the server as you do normally
  2. Observe the 503 maintenance notice
  3. WAIT another 30-60 seconds
  4. Try again.
  5. Repeat until it resolves.

(Interrupting by shutting down only forces it to start over at next PMS start)

Thanks @ChuckPa . Might need to break this into a new thread, but decided to first have a try with your Plex DB Repair tool and after running it on DSM7, Plex crashes immediately due to permissions issues after running it. I followed your directions to the letter on your github.

Seems that my permissions where everything works are this:

After the tool, Plex Crashes due to permissions access and it looks like this:

@StealingTime

You did a lot more than upgrade PMS to 1.40 there.

Please make a new thread.
Show me & Tell me what you did because what I see there looks like you started to copy PMS from somewhere else and broke it in the process.

In that new thread, please ping me.

@ChuckPa made new thread. This issue came up before I even upgraded to PMS 1.40.
