Hue Bridge disables Plex Media Server Remote Access

Hi, I have been running my Plex Media Server on a Synology DS1019+ just fine for over a year. Well, I say just fine but I needed a very quick crash course on how to set up port-forwarding and what that meant. As well as getting a static IPv4 address from my ISP.

But then i bought a Phillips Hue Bridge and some lights a few months ago, and as soon as I connected them to my router, I could no longer access my Plex Media Server remotely. When I unplugged the Hue Bridge from my router and enabled remo

te access in the Plex settings again, it worked just fine.
So there is some sort of conflict between the Hue Bridge and either my Synology DS1019+ or Plex Media Server and the ports I selected.
For port-forwarding I just used the standard; forwarding from 32400 to 32401 (see attached image).

I have no idea what to do now. i had a look around and came across things like double NAT but that seemed to be related to multiple routes. I couldn’t find a fix for my issue.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

Player Version#: 1.54.2.3267
Plex Web Version#: Version 4.87.2

The Hue Bridge is a peer device. What you’re describing sounds like a forwarding conflict. I have the Hue working here with 4 different PMS servers (main + 3 testing) without conflict.

If you have a DHCP server, I would reserve a known, non-conflicting, IP address for it. (The MAC address is on the bottom of the device).

I assigned one well out of the way from my normal devices.

Hi ChuckPa,
Thank you so much for the advice. I followed your instructions and it is working! Perfect.
I will now read more about peer devices, how they are assigned addresses - and a lot more about network conflict resolution.
Thank you so much for your help.
