Hung Recordings

Greetings.

I’ve been running the DVR for a few months now, with great success. I’ve started seeing what seems to be a new phenomenon lately, possibly starting with the most recent update. What happens is that a recording will “hang” (it stops recording before the show ends, but the “recording” dot on the recording schedule page stays on, the file in the “grab” directory never gets processed, and if I select the show from the recording schedule it says “100% complete”, even though it still shows that it’s recording). After a recording “hangs”, anything scheduled after that seems to start, record about 2 - 3 kilobytes (in the grab folder), and then also hangs.

I’ve come in to look at the server and found up to 6 shows in the “hung” state.

If I restart the server, the “hung” shows get processed (abbreviated, of course), and all looks normal again.

I’m running version 1.7.5.4035 of PMS on a Windows 10 machine, with an HD Homerun 3-tuner.

Several others on the forum have also mentioned this issue in multiple posts, as well as problems with tuner allocation, I have 9 tuners in my DVR but was unable to record more than 2 shows at once Plex would just abort any other recordings. Myself and several others have dropped back to 1.6.1 release so we don’t have to deal with the issues from 1.7.x versions.

It’s nice to know I’m not imagining things, but I need to improve my search techniques. I missed the other posts.

I think I’ll take your advice about backing up to an earlier version.

did you ever find a solution to the hung recording? it happened to me for the first time tonight. Strange thing though it was the only program being recorded from 7 to 8PM. It’s midnight and it’s still showing recording but at 100%. Like it didn’t end the process.
