now I just need advice on a good antenna, this tuner is quite picky, I have a set of amplified rabbit ears from radio shack, this has been the best possible source so far.
Tried Mohu leaf, RCA flat antenna, both are much worse but work well on TV’s, I mounted the RCA flat antenna out under the eaves of the house and the xbox one tuner will pull in twice as much but this same setup is worse on the 2250 than my old rabbit ears.
I saw a few at best buy the other day, thinking I might give one a try… I’m missing two important networks I need to pull in on the 2250, both are In the yellow with tons of errors on the best antenna so far with signal monitor. I have another that works well most of the times, it occasionally hiccups but is very watchable. id rather drop 200 bucks getting my internal setup working well than to buy an had homerun. I’m a kind of “lets keep it all in the machine” guy, I didn’t buy a huge case and a 1050 watt power supply for nothing ha!
anyone used either one of these antennas on hvr-2250? all of my stations are within 40 miles of here
just need something that is going to feed a strong signal to a tuner that seems to loose some of the strength inside the inner workings of the card.
also is there an amplifier I can buy to go right between the coax and the 2250 to possibly make up for its weaker reception? many antennas have an amplifier in the antenna, I know there are two ways to amplify a signal somehow right at the antenna, and one to boost the strength on the line for long distance drops, I know my antenna is getting a clear signal to all of these channels as they work on other devices and the xbox one tuner on a little pc right by the server. so I need a boost to give the 2250 a little helping hand.
yeah best buy here has the 4v in stock which is just like yours but has two figure 8 loops, I think ill go for it, attic mount is a good idea too, that amp does me no good though as I don’t need to feed multiple devices, the one dual tuner card is going to function for plex and be used for my whole house, currently shows only become available on plex Roku after they are finished, but soon I’m sure they will add live streaming to it, I live alone, no need for more than 1 tuner live and 1 tuner for recordings, or both for the most part as I have ps vue, this new setup is just a great way to add shows and movies to my library with ease.
I’m heading to best buy after work and grabbing it up, what model tuner do you have in your pc for plex?
well worth 90 bucks, put it this way, on a weak tuner, it pulled in EVERY single channel in my area full 30 green in signal monitor, every one, then it pulled in one I’m not even supposed to get at 20-25 with some errors though.
best thing ive bought in years, I can only imagine would it would pick up on a strong tuner.
I took my dish off, it came with its own roof bracket but with a little modification I was able to mount it snugly to the larger pole left from the dish, I’m amazed and completely happy now!, usb tuner you can go back to the xbox so I don’t have to worry with overlapping recordings
thank you so much plex for adding support for my tuner!!!
First I placed it in my basement, where I have the router. Only 4 channels.
Then I placed it outside of the basement, through the little window… 12 channels.
Will this break down with the winter or should I get another one?
