I am continously disappointed with your poor metadata matching and inability to fix errors

This is not a plug for a Plex alternative but coming over from JRiver Media Center it’s appalling how poorly implemented the meta data management on Plex is. Most of the time show or movie data matches correctly but when it doesn’t it takes a herculean effort to fix it. God forbid 2 shows merge that shouldn’t be. While you can unmerge series if a particular episode remains merged in the wrong series there is no way to fix it. Overall I recognize Plex as a very capable and refined media player that happens to be compatible with my smart tv so I use it gladly. But could you PLEASE make the meta data more easily editable.

The easiest way to fix metadata is to fix the user error at the filesystem level.

Eg. Adopt good naming conventions for your folders and files.

You’ve had a different experience than me.

I agree that sometimes matching needs a hint, typically if file naming is funky or generic, or if there are multiple possible shows to match against. Or if there’s embedded metadata, or if the online metadata databases are wrong.

But once a show has been named correctly, or a show-level match has been corrected, I’ve never had individual episodes continue to be matched against the wrong show.

Are you using the recommend TV/Series file naming and directory structure?
