I am unable to delete items in my library

I deleted the actual media files from my hard drive via accessing it over wifi. I noticed the movies are still there when accessing Plex Media Player on my Mac. When I try to delete it, a red box appears at the top saying “There was a problem deleting this item”. All files are located inside the Nvidia_Shield folder which is the only folder on the external hard drive hooked up to it that has read and write permissions. Here’s what I have done so far:

Checked to see if the Plex Media Server is on the latest version, which it is.
Checked to see if media deletion is allowed in the settings, which it is.
Optimized the database.
Cleaned the bundles.
Run WD Drive Utilities to see if the hard drive is failing, which everything turned up normal.
Scan library files on both movies and tv shows.
Refreshed all metadata.

I have never encountered this problem before. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

If you already deleted the file manually outside of Plex, then you can’t delete it again, so that error is correct. To get rid of it, you just need to do a library scan to detect that the file is gone. If you don’t have automatically empty trash enabled, then you’ll need to do that as well.
