I know there is a file access Android OS limitation to directories on external drives.
My Plex library directories are available on a SMB network as /shield/SanDisk USB drive/NVIDIA_SHIELD/plexvideos, etc. I connect as a registered user to the shield server and can then add, delete, and modify files in those Plex libraries.
Plex seems to delete a played file from a library, but it actually remains in the directory. That I assume is from not being in an acceptable Android directory.
Is there any way to actually get Plex to delete these files?
You have enabled Settings > [Server Name] > Library > Allow media deletion and manually delete a file from within Plex
You have configured your tv-show library to automatically delete watched episodes / keep only a certain amount of unwatched episodes (those options are available per show; they originate from DVR but are also available for regular shows)
Server settings have always been set to allow media deletion. The only way to get rid of old files has been to do it manually through SMB.
Most plextvshow files are downloaded or copied into that library directory. Only one current DVR recording exists. It does have a limit on episodes (5) and to automatically delete after playing (after a week). I don’t think these DVR files also get deleted from the file system. But there are not enough examples left in the library to know yet since most old shows have already been previously deleted manually through the network.
