I can No longer Access or even Create a Plex Server On my Account?

Server Version#:1.41.0.8994-f2c27da23
Player Version#: ?
I can’t provide server logs or debug logs, but I do have three server logs that I found in the directories from my PC and NAS server. I hope they help.

NAS Server 1 Plex Media Server.log (897.0 KB)
NAS Server 2 Plex Media Server.log (7.0 MB)
PC Plex Media Server.log (143.4 KB)

Okay, I’ll do my best to explain everything as concisely as possible to avoid overwhelming details or losing track of the key issues.

Ever since my Plex account was hacked—even though I eventually regained access—I’ve encountered persistent problems. Specifically:

  1. I can’t log into my server.
  2. Worse, I can’t create a new server at all.

I’ve tried everything imaginable:

  • Followed troubleshooting guides step by step.
  • Cleared the cache.
  • Edited and deleted registry entries and preference files.
  • Searched for hidden options to tweak settings manually.

Despite all this effort, nothing works—no matter which computer or NAS device I use, whenever I log in through my account, I always get the same frustrating error message: “You are not authorized to access this server.”

Oddly enough, when I created a completely new Plex account and set up a server on a different computer, it worked flawlessly without any issues. This seems to suggest it’s not an account issue but rather some kind of software problem specific to my original setup.

However, here’s where I’m stuck: how can it be a software issue when I’ve tested seven different computers and four separate NAS devices? Surely they can’t all have identical problems! Something deeper is going on here that I just cannot figure out—and honestly, I’ve reached my breaking point.

At this stage, I’m ready to give up entirely and request a refund unless someone can provide help or guidance because I truly cannot keep doing this anymore

Your pc log shows the computer is seeing a public ip address. Pms is designed to run on a private ip. Get that fixed and you should be able to get Plex running again.

Really?! How would I fix that, as you can see I’m not the most experienced Plex Tech

This is change at the network level, not a Plex Media Server setting.

Your PC and NAS are using public IP address assigned to Microsoft (the PC is using 20.5.2.13).

Unless the devices are actually on Microsoft’s network, you need to re-address your network to use RFC-1918 compliant addresses (Wikipedia: Private Network).

One way is to change the 20 to a 10 in all your network devices (ex: 10.5.2.13 instead of 20.5.2.13).

You will have to change all devices - routers, NAS, PCs, etc.

Hello @StormRegalia

I fully understand your frustration here, so let’s take this one step at a time

Please answer the following questions:

  • I think you have a router that was provided by your ISP, and on that router, you changed it’s IP address as well as it’s DHCP scope to use an address range as 20.5.2.X
    • If above is correct, then that is bad, and you must change it back to one of the following ranges:
      • 192.168.x.y / 255.255.255.0 (Normally your router should have the address 192.168.x.1
      • 172.16.0.0 → 172.31.0.0 /255.255.0.0
      • 10.0.0.0 /255.0.0.0
  • After changing the address, both your NAS and your PC as well as all devices in your home using the internet should be restarted to pickup the new address

Of the above ranges, the 192.168.1.x is the most commonly used for a home

Avoiding to do that will not only cause problems using Plex, but also will block access from you towards sites on the internet using the address you are using

After that is done, and since I see you also changed email on your account, your Plex Media Servers should be reclaimed, so please see this article:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

If you are unsure about how to fix your router, either contact your ISP, or try with a reset, since most routers has a reset button at the back

Also I strongly suggest not to create new accounts and trying claiming your servers to those, since this is NOT an account issue, but a local network issue in your home setup!

sigh cant even remember why i used the 20 but thank you ill give this a try tonight

No, I’m using my own router and modem. Honestly, I can even remember why I used 20.5.2.x in the first place… Okay I will do the steps and get back to you all thank you in advance
