I have tried everything, all I get is "You do not have access to this server." please somebody help!

Hello,

I do not know how to call anybody with support. I recently bought a new computer and installed plex server there, then deleted the old server from my old compter.

All I get on the new computer is
“Not authorized You do not have access to this server.”

I have tried this registry thing with another article (I am not super tech savvy with the inner workings of this stuff but can get around) nothing seems to work - with uninstall and re-install!

This is the latest version from plex website and even online. This is on Windows 10.

If this cannot be fixed I might as well cancel plex pass as I cannot use what I am paying for at all!

Is there somebody in this company who can contact me to help as I have tried everything, this is very frustrating!

Have you looked at https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/ and what have you attempted?

Yes I have deleted

  • PlexOnlineHome
  • PlexOnlineMail
  • PlexOnlineToken
  • PlexOnlineUsername

multiple times and followed the instructions, has not worked.

Next I would start with a copy of your server logs

size=“0” apiVersion=“1.1.0” claimed=“1” machineIdentifier=“de031967db34151e38b2a71ef923213737dcb18d” version=“1.42.0.9975-6b2b441e1”>

Plex Media Server.3.log (227.4 KB)
Plex Media Server.4.log (374.9 KB)
Plex Media Server.5.log (103.9 KB)

Your server appears to have a public IP. If it is located inside your home network, it is supposed to use a private IP address.
Did you put it into the DMZ, via the settings of your router?

DMZ is not enabled on home router, PC was connected via ethernet and no other settings or port forwarding added/enabled.

How do I put it back to private?

This change will affect your whole home network.
If you have a regular internet connection with a “router”-type device, most likely you would need to go into the settings of your router.
There put one of the private IP address ranges into the setting of the DHCP server.
(the most commonly used would be 192.168.0.0/24)
What you have now in there is considered “public” IP address space.

After making this change, you would need to restart your router, and then subsequently all the devices within your local network.
If there are devices among them where you have assigned an IP address manually, then you would have to reset that back to “automatic” (or pick one from the same private range that you told the router to use).

Moved local IP address into a different range, uninstalled, remove registry entries, re-installed, same issue. Not sure why it continues.

172.117.1.120 is also not a private IP address. I gave you a link above.

Ok fixed the range, appears to be working now.
